EC’s, DEC’s, ASEC’s and other interested parties

To all; EC’s, DEC’s, ASEC’s and other interested parties,

Mr. Steve Castle, N7FUL, has accepted the position of Emergency Coordinator (EC) for Wilson County in District 12 of the South Texas Section. Steve is recommended by the District 12 Emergency Coordinator (DEC) Ms. L. Ruth Lewis, KE5MHJ, and approved by the STX Section Manager Mr. Stuart Wolfe, KF5NIX. District 12 is composed of Atascosa, Bexar, Comal, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Kendall and Wilson counties.

Steve is returning to the Wilson County EC position.

Originally licensed in 1969, Steve tells his story:

“I operate CW and digital modes much of the time but also maintain a significant HF SSB presence.”

“My favorite digital modes include PACTOR 1 through 4, courtesy of my trusty SCS P4dragon modem and also VARA soundcard, both chat and WinLink Global Radio email.” “I believe that PACTOR is still the ideal digital chat mode, but VarAC chat is quickly approaching the SCS modem PACTOR experience.”  “I have a high level of interest in HF Contesting.  Antenna design is another area of interest for me.”  Steve gives many thanks to Roy Lewallen W7EL for the availability of EZNEC.

“My educational profile includes a Master of Business Administration, and my career industry affiliations include domestic and international Automotive, Medical, Aerospace and Department of Defense.”

“I have had active involvement with amateur radio support of emergency communications since 2010.”

This appointment was effective August 24, 2025.

Regards to all,

Jeffery A Walter – KE5FGA
